Growing up in the late 70s and early 80s, I enjoyed Saturday mornings. It was the time I got to revel in DC comics cartoon goodness! Re-runs of Filmation cartoons (Superman, Batman, Aquaman, etc) would start off early and usually lead to a whole hour of Superfriends! Of course, my favorite character was Wonder Woman!

Wonder Woman had some exciting adventures in those days, but unfortunately was often overshadowed by Superman. She usually simply played "taxi" for Aquaman, carting his lazy fish-talking butt around the globe. Still, Wondie had some great episodes. My favorite is "Will the World Collide?" She did absolutely everything! It was fantastic!

I hope other people enjoyed the Superfriends Wonder Woman as much as I did.

Me too!! And how did I spend most of NYE, you ask? Watching a marathon of my Super Friends! / Super Powers Team DVDs!

Ha! I did that when I was a kid too!

Wow...I was apparently a very gay child...I used to pretend I was Wonder WOMAN...not the boy version but the lady HERSELF! I used to take a hoodie and wear just the hood part over my head and let the rest fall behind me for my long hair and I used a jumprope for my lasso AND I would spin around the playground for hours! Wow...I was doing drag even before I knew I was GAY! Go figure!!

Brad - I did the same thing! At recess in elementary school I would spin around on the playground and run off to fight some sort of crime. I even "ran" like Lynda Carter - sort of kicking my legs out in the back like she did when she ran. I was SO gay and often made fun of by my peers.

My Mom said you have two choices - don't care what people think and keep doing it. Or stop so they don't make fun of you any more.

Guess what - I kept doing it!!

I event made a paper tiara and bracelets for my sister and I and directed traffic at the end of my driveway as "Wonder Woman".

Yep, that's me a few years ago! I won best costume several Halloweens in a row. I have more photos if you are interested. I also dressed up as Elvira. My homemade CBS costume replica is now kept on permanent display in my collection (sans the cape, boots and wig, which are stored elsewhere):

I LOVE your cape...mine is too narrow to fan out like that (and like Lynda's)....but I just love love LOVE the way it SPINS!!!

Great costume replica, Brad! I know what you mean - when I would start spinning, the whole room had to cledar out because that cape was so huge!

It was a big project to design and make, but completely worth it in the end. Everyone could not believe how full and flowing it was just like the real one.

I may retro-fit the star pattern on both the cape and "pants" using the varied sizes of embroidered stars. They were not readily available when I originally made the costume, but now I know where to order them from.

I've continued to modify or add little details like that for a few years now!

Awww....cute story. I love your moms advice. That reminds me of my childhood friend Joey and myself. We would both fight over who got to be Wonder Woman when playing. LOL, we also both went as Wonder Woman for Halloween when we were 7.

I was always Green Lantern in my neighborhood crime fighting team. But secretly, I would find a hidden corner to spin into Wonder Woman!

Wow, I guess I wasn't as different as I always felt I was as a kid!
Just like you guys, I also played "Wonder Boy" when all of my friends would play the male members of the Super Friends/Justice League.

I kind of wish my parents had been a little more supportive of my obviously gay tendencies though. But they were just trying to look out for me, and were always reminding me of what was "appropriate" or "inappropriate" ways for a boy to act -- in the hopes that I wouldn't get picked on. (For the record, it didn't work -- I was still constantly picked on.)

So my love of Wonder Woman was pretty discouraged when I was growing up (although it never stopped me).

Oh well, I make up for it now -- I'm an out & proud Wonder Woman Fan! *lol*
